There are many courses at Capilano University that teach about sustainability. Outside the classroom, there are several meaningful ways to get involved.

Volunteers are always welcome and student jobs are posted twice annually. You can also connect with like-minded students and employees at our events, or by joining the campus community garden.

CapU community garden

CapU employees, students and neighbours look after our community garden with the help of Projects in Place and Houston Landscapes. The garden started as a student idea in 2008 and has grown as a place for the community to connect. CapU recognizes urban gardens as educational spaces that can contribute to food production, sustainability and personal well-being.

CapU's garden is located at the north end of campus near the Maple Building and Parking Lot 3. Features include a traditional First Nations garden, a learning garden for the Children's Centre and an outdoor classroom. Check out the Community Garden page on Facebook!

The community garden's outdoor classroom can be used by any instructor. Contact us if you would like to book space.

All garden plots are currently assigned, but if you would like to be added to the waiting list for next year, contact us at
